T-I-A Parish Report May 2011

I am not quite sure what the difference between a report and Minutes are but this is a Report.

The Parish Council met on Thursday 19th May 2011 at 19.30 hours in Tanworth Village Hall.
One member of the public was present, together with County Councillor Perry.
County Councillor Perry gave the following report:
Councillor Perry confirmed that Simon Prescott had contacted Clerk White regarding the proposed improvements to the crossroads at the junction of Valley Road and Shutt Lane. Clerk White confirmed his attendance at the next meeting on June 2nd to present the proposed improvements. Councillor Perry suggested holding a public meeting following on from the meeting on June 2nd, Councillor Willmott confirmed that this could be arranged and made a suggestion that the information regarding the plans be displayed in Earlswood Village Hall for a time and to have Parish Councillors, Councillor Perry and tree officials on hand to answer any queries (as the proposal would include the felling of a mature tree). Councillor Perry confirmed that he had been investigating the ownership of the land in Valley Road that the tree stands on and no-one appears to know who the land belongs to.
Councillor Perry gave an update on current crime figures and was able to reassure the Council that Dave Martin, PCSO was to stay in our area. He confirmed there is a new structure in place and we will still receive a patrolling officer. The way forward for officers is to have either a computer in the car or a handheld device allowing them to spend more time in the community without needing to return to the office to do paperwork.
Councillor Perry stressed the difficulties faced by Councils due to cut backs, as identified in a recent TV programme about a housing estate who took over the purse strings from their local council.
Tom Hill is temporarily closed.
The speed limit in Forshaw Heath Road is in line with national guidelines; however the issue of speeding will be raised at the next Community Forum meeting. Councillor Perry confirmed that Councillor Atkinson had recently attended a meeting with West Mercia Police regarding Alderhanger Lane lay-by. At present there are no signs of it being closed and so Councillors Perry and Atkinson are looking at other ways of addressing the problem of the undesirable activities.
Councillor Perry along with a number of Parish Councillors commented on the very good quality of work to repair potholes in the Parish, especially those in Penn Lane which were particular dangerous.

Councillor Willmott opened the meeting and received apologies from Councillor Jones, Councillor Oakley, Councillor Waters, Councillor Instone and Councillor Ross.

The correspondence list was noted and the following item was highlighted:
Councillor Willmott confirmed that the Parish Council had erected a boundary fence to clearly show our land behind a property in Malthouse Lane and the wildlife area. Councillor Willmott confirmed that the new owner of the property in Malthouse Lane is now fully aware of the ownership of the land. Councillor Stanton requested that the area be left unattended as a wildlife meadow. Councillor O’Brien expressed his concern that the wildlife area and the park in Malthouse Lane are frequented late in the evening by youths holding evening parties and they leave a considerable amount of rubbish in the area. Councillor O’Brien also raised concerns over the rubbish left in the woods next to The Reservoir. Councillor Willmott confirmed that the Punch Tavern had recently agreed to secure and clear the area.

The following Planning Applications were considered: 10/01522/FUL (amendment), Claybank Bungalow, 11/00651/FUL Spring Cottage, 11/00649/FUL (amendment) Woodlands Farm, 11/01094/FUL Earlswood Nurseries, 11/00993/ADV Earlswood Nurseries and 11/00985/FUL Alderhanger Farm.

The Police surgeries were discussed and due to the poor attendance, it was thought that PCSO Martin would make better use of his time if residents should contact the Parish Office with any issues and we will ask PCSO Martin to contact them.

The Earlswood Village Fete on June 23rd 2012 was discussed and Councillor Willmott confirmed that the Parish Council give permission to restrict access to the park. Councillor O’Brien confirmed that the Earlswood Fete Committee will notify all concerned parties about the closure e.g. British Waterways.

Items which were reported as requiring attention were:

Ivy Stores – a new step which appears to be encroaching on to the pavement.
Cut Throat Lane, junction at Dyers Lane – tall grass needs cutting back
Japanese knotweed - Cloweswood Lane

The full minutes are available on our website www.tanworth-pc.org.uk or from the Parish Office in Earlswood Craft Centre, Wood Lane.

Crime Stats Alcester North October 2020

Well as crime has been on my mind for the last couple of weeks and it has always appeared difficult to find any meaningful crime stats. I have at long last found the information used by the Police lurking on the Police.uk website. It is not live data and runs approx 6 to 8 weeks in arrears for example October 2020 is now visible. This is a totally interactive tool, easy to use and has a great dashboard, what is good about this tool it also provides outcomes. The default is for the whole of the Alcester North area however it is simple to find out where the hot spots are and which crimes have been included. So for those of you keeping an eye on the stats this may well be the tool to use. To get to the information  just click the link  below Alcester North Crime Data
