Does Your Parish Council Have two different Meetings?

During my 2012 adventures I suddenly discovered my Parish Council have two different meetings per month.
  1. Full Meeting
  2. Finance and Planning
What is the difference well I am not quite sure other than
  1. Full Meeting I have 3 minutes to talk at the full meeting as a member of the general public
  2. Finance and Planning I can listen but am not unless invited able to talk
By far the most interesting meeting was the Finance  and Planning meeting very few if any people attend it but in actual fact is the meeting that needs to be attended even if you can't talk it is where the decisions are made that affect our ward. You can listen and bring points up at the Full Meeting. What an eye opener.

  1. All business can be dealt with at the 'full meeting' of the parish council, which all parish councillors attend, unless there is generally too much to reasonably deal with at a single meeting.

In these circumstances, the council can set up committees to dealt with specific matters that will be delegated from the full council meeting to the committee. In this instance, Tanworth-in-Arden Parish Council has set up a committee to deal with finance and planning related things, and then everything else gets reported to the full meeting. A committee of the council will not usually contain all of the councillors who make up the council, and the membership will be agreed every year at the AGM.

It's just a way of spreading the load a bit, but I agree with you that these committee meetings will be considering plenty of interesting things!

  2. Dan thanks for the response as always I appreciate the work PC does however I really do think people should be more aware and participate. I was lucky enough at one of the F&P meeting to be asked my opinion. There was me on my own I chose to speak for my family and I and not for anyone else but it surprises me Why I appeared to know a little more than those sitting around the table at the time I think that's probably thanks to the web and a bit of research. I don't pertain to be an expert in planning or anything else but I do like to research.

  3. Carrie, you really should put your name forward to be a parish councillor! Interestingly, the Tanworth-in-Arden PC website suggests there's currently 11 councillors (and therefore one vacancy). Why don't you seek a co-option onto the council? I think you'd be a great parish councillor.

    1. Dan I did think about it but to be honest my temperament is not right and I am to impatient. At the moment I am finding my feet and feel I can do more by keeping people updated and informed. By attending the meeting when I am not working or away. Thanks for the vote of confidence Carrie

Crime Stats Alcester North October 2020

Well as crime has been on my mind for the last couple of weeks and it has always appeared difficult to find any meaningful crime stats. I have at long last found the information used by the Police lurking on the Police.uk website. It is not live data and runs approx 6 to 8 weeks in arrears for example October 2020 is now visible. This is a totally interactive tool, easy to use and has a great dashboard, what is good about this tool it also provides outcomes. The default is for the whole of the Alcester North area however it is simple to find out where the hot spots are and which crimes have been included. So for those of you keeping an eye on the stats this may well be the tool to use. To get to the information  just click the link  below Alcester North Crime Data
