On Reflection with Respect

Well I decided it was about time I write something, so I have reflected on past posts and where I started.

As I was quietly tinkering around with the blog today I was rudely disturbed by a long, loud screech of brakes.

We now have our posh new 50 mph speed limit, for what good it has done us. I really don't know as I have seen and heard more near misses and accidents in the last year than ever before. Driving in Forshaw Heath is almost as dangerous as walking, cycling, riding a horse. and just to think I started driving because it became to dangerous to walk.

It seems to me that many those driving their cars and rushing around have absolutely no respect for other road users, the weather conditions , the people that live on what is now a more than busy rat run. I thought it was bad 4 years ago multiply what I thought was bad by 4.

The traffic is now relentless the drivers are even more selfish than they were before. As far as I am concerned The highways department need never mend another pothole and let the lanes grow into grass tracks call it natural traffic calming. I will probably regret I ever said that but hey ho hey hum. How I would love to be able to walk to the station again in relative safety.

I actually don't think speed limits mean anything to anybody especially when they aren't enforced and people can get away with driving without due care and attention and are totally oblivious to their surroundings.

Re-education of drivers is needed and I am not just talking the youngsters because more often than not in our neck of the woods it is older business people making their way to and from work and continually in a rush that careless and cause the near misses and accidents. Just as I need educating in driving in a city center or on a motorway both things I avoid like the plague in fact I don't do it. Drivers need to know how to drive in the countryside where equally but different care and attention is needed.

The only way the near misses, accidents and screeches of brakes is going to stop is if humans learn to be less selfish and consider driving appropriately to their surroundings and the conditions. Like I said a few potholes and a grass track to junction 3 of the M42 may help slow a few people down and think about their surroundings.
  • Horse Riders
  • Cyclists
  • Pedestrians
  • The odd escaped Farm Animal
  • The occasional wild animal
  • Dogs and Cats are also members of someones family
  • Slow moving traffic, tractors etc
Equally other road users also need to remember their manners, Cyclists 3 a breast is not fair, nor is Horse riders, pedestrians. Not wearing High Vis attire in the dark and using the wrong side of the road is unfair.

Its not all one way traffic pardon the pun, its about respect for each other and the surroundings. Until that is accomplished  the same old debate will continue.

Crime Stats Alcester North October 2020

Well as crime has been on my mind for the last couple of weeks and it has always appeared difficult to find any meaningful crime stats. I have at long last found the information used by the Police lurking on the Police.uk website. It is not live data and runs approx 6 to 8 weeks in arrears for example October 2020 is now visible. This is a totally interactive tool, easy to use and has a great dashboard, what is good about this tool it also provides outcomes. The default is for the whole of the Alcester North area however it is simple to find out where the hot spots are and which crimes have been included. So for those of you keeping an eye on the stats this may well be the tool to use. To get to the information  just click the link  below Alcester North Crime Data
